What the R1 EDU Standard is

The EDU Standard is the cheapest Unitree R1 a laboratory can actually program. At $15,950 it is the point on the ladder where the robot stops being a demonstration unit and becomes a research platform: a 40 TOPS NVIDIA Jetson module, the full ROS 2, Python and C++ SDK, Isaac Sim simulation support, and a 12-month warranty rather than the Basic’s eight months. The mechanical platform is unchanged — same 121–123 cm frame, same binocular cameras, same roughly one-hour hot-swappable battery.

How it sits between the tiers

Below it, the R1 Basic at $8,990 has the same body and no programming path at all. Above it, the R1 EDU Smart at $18,900 raises onboard compute to 100 TOPS and adds a 2-DOF articulated head for human-robot-interaction and gaze work. Everything above that — the EDU Pro ladder from $19,800 to $32,900 — is about hands, not about compute.

Choose the Standard if your work is locomotion, perception or teleoperation and your models train off-board. Choose the Smart if you intend to run inference on the robot itself.

This is the configuration page for the Unitree R1 EDU Standard. Every other configuration, the full specification tables and the price history are in our Unitree R1 guide. Prices shown are dealer-listed prices read from that configuration’s own product page, not manufacturer MSRP, and they are re-read automatically every day; the date above is the last reading.
