| Attribute | Go2 EDU Plus | Spot |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $13,205 | ~$74,500+ |
| Weight | ~15 kg | ~32 kg |
| SDK | ✓ Full ROS 2 | ✓ Spot SDK |
| Best For | Education, research | Industrial inspection |
| IP Rating | Indoor/controlled | IP54 |
| Payload | 8 kg (12 limit) | 14 kg |
At $13,205, the Go2 EDU Plus now costs ~82% less than Spot. For university labs and algorithm development, that's equivalent capability at roughly one-sixth the cost.
If you're staying within the Unitree ecosystem but need more ruggedness and payload than the Go2, the A2 is the next step up. Here's how they compare:
| Attribute | Go2 EDU Plus | Unitree A2 |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $13,205 | $31,900 |
| Weight | ~15 kg (33 lb) | ~50 kg (110 lb) |
| Payload | 8 kg (12 kg limit) | 40 kg+ |
| Top Speed | 5 m/s | 6 m/s |
| Environment | Indoor / controlled outdoor | Industrial / all-terrain |
| Best For | Education, research, SLAM | Industrial inspection, heavy payload |
The Go2 EDU is the right choice for labs, classrooms, and algorithm R&D where portability and cost matter. The A2 is built for industrial environments — warehouses, construction sites, outdoor terrain — where you need 40+ kg payload and ruggedized hardware. If your deployment involves heavy sensor payloads, outdoor patrols, or harsh conditions, the A2 is worth the step up.
Unitree's new As2 sits between the Go2 and the industrial A2: the As2 X starts at $9,500 MSRP, with As2 EDU configurations running $11,900 to $19,900 MSRP. Here's how the two EDU Plus tiers compare:
| Attribute | Go2 EDU Plus | As2 EDU Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $13,205 | $13,900 (MSRP) |
| Weight | ~15 kg | ~18 kg |
| Joint Torque | 45 N·m | ~90 N·m |
| Payload | 8 kg (12 kg limit) | 15 kg walking |
| Endurance | 2–4 hours | ~4 hours / 20 km |
| Weather Rating | Indoor / controlled | IP54 |
| LiDAR | 4D L1 (upgradeable) | Industrial 64–128-line LiDAR |
| Development | Full ROS 2 / Isaac | Secondary dev + Isaac Sim + 100 TOPS dock |
| Availability | In stock — U.S. | Quote-based |
Our honest read: the Go2 remains the smarter buy for most labs — it's in stock with U.S. shipping, has a large installed base and a mature ROS 2 community, and enters at a lower price. Choose the As2 only if your deployment genuinely needs the higher payload, IP54 weather sealing, or extended endurance.
Major price cuts (mid-2026). Unitree cut prices across the Go2 lineup as it scales manufacturing ahead of its public listing. The EDU Plus dropped $2,795 to $13,205, the EDU Standard dropped $1,810 to $11,190, and the Go2-W ENT-U2 dropped $6,000 to $23,999. This is part of an industry-wide quadruped price war that Unitree itself started — and buyers are the beneficiaries. Track every movement in our price change log.
Unitree is going public. In March 2026, Unitree filed for a ~$610 million IPO on the Shanghai Stock Exchange at a target valuation of roughly $6.2 billion, with its listing review held June 1, 2026. The company shipped over 30,000 quadruped robots between 2022 and late 2025 and plans to scale production to 115,000 quadrupeds per year. For institutional buyers, this signals long-term platform stability: parts, SDK support, and firmware updates for the Go2 ecosystem are backed by a profitable, scaling manufacturer.
24/7 autonomous patrol is now proven. In April 2026, third-party developers demonstrated fully autonomous security patrols on the Go2 with auto self-charging — the robot patrols, monitors its own battery, returns to dock, recharges, and resumes with no human in the loop. Combined with improved obstacle avoidance shown in May 2026 (the Go2 can now self-detour around corners and cluttered environments in real time), the ENT and EDU platforms are increasingly viable for continuous unattended deployment. The self-charging dock ($1,044) is the hardware that enables this workflow.
The As2 has arrived. In mid-2026 Unitree introduced the As2, the Go2's industrial-leaning successor — IP54 weather sealing, roughly double the joint torque, and a 15 kg walking payload, with EDU configurations from $11,900 MSRP. It doesn't replace the Go2 for most labs, but if you need weather protection or payload headroom, see our full Go2 vs As2 comparison above.
Most buyers check out directly with the buy buttons above — discount pre-applied, free U.S. shipping. If you need a formal PO-compatible quote, multi-unit pricing, As2 availability, or configuration help, submit this form and we'll connect you with the right authorized dealer. No obligation.
